Tim Earley

Through lived experience with athletics and injury, I coach clients to build resilient, functional strength from the ground up. My work centers on healthspan, confidence, and growing stronger in ways that last.

My Story

I came to fitness later in life. For much of my adulthood, I was sedentary, working long hours as an English instructor reading, writing, and grading essays at a desk. I didn’t begin training seriously until I was almost 50. What started as a small effort to feel better became transformational. I went from not being able to run a mile to running ultra-marathons. More importantly, my sleep improved, my stress levels dropped, and my sense of well-being increased.

After more than 30 years of teaching, I’m deeply comfortable working one-on-one, listening closely, and helping people learn at their own pace. I want to help you experience the same reconnection with movement that changed my life in ways that feel positive and sustainable. When you train with me, my goal is for you to feel safe, supported, and capable, and to leave each session with greater confidence, a clear understanding of what we are working toward, and genuine motivation to return. I place strong emphasis on explaining why we do what we do so you understand your training rather than simply going through the motions.

I’m especially passionate about helping adults build strength, stability, and cardiovascular fitness in ways that support long-term health and everyday life. I focus on functional strength training, movement quality, and conditioning that carries over outside the gym. In addition to being a NASM-certified personal trainer, I’m also a certified running coach and continue to study and refine my approach to cardiorespiratory fitness.

For clients who feel intimidated or are starting from scratch, I lead with empathy because I have been there myself. I remember how intimidating it felt to begin moving again after years of inactivity, and how important it was to feel supported and encouraged. I will meet you where you are on your fitness journey. I focus on creating an upbeat, welcoming environment and starting with small, achievable steps. Confidence grows through consistency, and my role is to guide that process with patience and care.

Outside the studio, I’m an avid trail runner and hiker. Time in nature helps me reset, and I’ve recently developed an interest in birding, along with a tendency to unexpectedly encounter bears on trail. I compete in races ranging from 5Ks to ultra-marathons and cross-train with boxing and Muay Thai, both of which demand focus, technique, and continual learning. A current goal is lowering my mile time from 5:38 to 4:59 in hopes of eventually competing in masters track championships.

I’m also a widely published writer and spend a great deal of time reading and writing. In addition, I work part-time as a game designer, creating and contributing to projects in the tabletop role-playing game industry.
